Ballantyne a Success!!

Posted: June 24, 2010 in Uncategorized

The celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Ballantyne was a tremendous success!  The march was filled with signs and shouts of solidarity that brought our neighbour’s out of their homes to witness our pride.  The memorial was unveiled at New Brighton Park, backed by the flags of our international brothers and sisters, and a proud fleet of ships.  After the laying of wreaths and speeches by special guests, the crowd returned to the Maritime Labour Centre to enjoy an open house complete with hot dogs!  After a beautiful day of sun it was time to wind down for the dinner & dance.  With wine and spirits, speeches and the singing of union songs, it was a perfect way to end the day.

Solidarity Forever!!!

As the event approaches time is running out to get your tickets!  In order to receive dinner with your ticket you must purchase them by no later than 9AM TUESDAY JUNE 15TH!!  Any tickets purchased after this time will be $30 and for the dance portion and door prizes only, as we need final numbers for the food order.

Doors for the dinner/dance open at 5:30pm Saturday for those who have purchased dinner; the dance portion will start at 7:30pm for those who have purchased tickets after the 9am Tuesday deadline.

Hope to see you all there!!!
